Balancing Brand and Personal Privacy

Dear Janet,

I hope you are having a great Sunday! I want to start by sharing how excited I am to be working together. Your online consulting business is very strong and I see a lot of potential for the brand on social media. I understand that you have some concerns about privacy due to your name being included in your branding. This is completely understandable, however social marketing is essential to take your business to the next level.

Social media marketing allows for more brand awareness and communication between potential consumers and yourself. Unlike other methods of marketing, social media creates a relationship between the two parties. This is due to the ability for comments and direct messages. Social media can also indirectly improve your SEO (search engine optimization). Creating shareable content that connects back to your site will help increase page views. Having strong SEO is integral for your online business since it can improve your website’s ranking on Google and lead to more conversions.

Plus, social marketing can provide helpful analytics to improve your business function. In addition to engagement metrics (likes, comments, shares) and account growth, social media also provides information about your audience. This is helpful in understanding what users are most likely to utilize your consulting business. Audience data can include ages, gender, location, etc. This data can help us continually improve our content and find weak spots in our current business plans.

There are also some steps that we can take to better protect your privacy. I highly recommend reading the privacy policy on each app before making an account. We can go through these together, and I can help explain any clauses that cause questions. The great thing about social media is that there are many different platforms. Some will be better for reaching our target market such as Linkedin and Facebook, but we can take your privacy concerns into consideration when choosing our main networks.

Additionally, we can strategically choose the content that we post on social. Our postings should encourage engagement, target our main audience, and present the brand in the best format. Since your name is included in the branding that should appear on the account, however, we can ensure that our other postings don’t reveal much about you. We will make sure to never include any personal information in the postings. Plus, we can make most of the content about the services you provide and the benefits of the company rather than you as an individual. A great thing about social media is that you can choose what gets posted so anything that makes you uncomfortable won’t go live. My job is to help market your business but your comfort is one of my main priorities as well.

I know it can feel like a big risk to start social marketing, but the breadth of benefits makes it worthwhile. Since your business is online, having a social presence adds trust and communication. Plus, it will expand your audience and develop valuable insights. We can work together to create a strategy that protects your personal privacy while utilizing the brand you’ve created. I can’t wait to get started!

Sincerely,

Caitlin Dawley
